Blue water & alpine adventures
There is more to a mountain getaway than the outdoors. Add a golf round, a long dinner, a show, or some friendly competition to your stay.
Mountain golf. Explore Coyote Moon, Tahoe Donner, Gray’s Crossing, and Old Greenwood around Truckee. Incline Village offers Championship and Mountain courses for a North Shore golf day. Reserve tee times and check seasonal availability.
A table for every mood. Start with Truckee coffee shops and breakfast spots, then choose casual patios, breweries, or a special dinner downtown. Pianeta and Truckee Tavern are ideas for an evening out.
For a lake day, explore dining in Tahoe City, Kings Beach, Carnelian Bay, and Incline Village. Check current menus and reserve ahead on busy weekends.

Bowling & family fun. Bowl Incline offers bowling, arcade games, and food in Incline Village—a fun evening or a break from the weather.
Live music. Check the Crown Room and Red Room at Crystal Bay Casino for shows, plus local calendars for seasonal concerts and community events. Event age policies vary.
Casinos & gambling. Explore gaming at Crystal Bay Casino or Grand Lodge Casino in Incline Village. Reno offers more casino choices, restaurants, and shows; Stateline on the South Shore is another option for a longer Tahoe outing. Casino gaming is for adults 21 and over.
Reno access. Follow I-80 east for shopping, arts, entertainment, and Reno–Tahoe International Airport. Allow extra time for weather and traffic.

Pick a town, pack for the day, and leave room for an unplanned stop. North Tahoe makes it easy to mix beach time, local shops, and a meal by the water.
Downtown Truckee. Wander historic streets, browse independent shops, and settle in for coffee, lunch, or dinner.
Tahoe City. Stroll the lakefront and Commons Beach, explore the shops, or follow the Truckee River corridor.
Kings Beach & Tahoe Vista. Plan a beach day, a paddle, and a relaxed bite along the North Shore.
Carnelian Bay. Pair a shoreline stop with paddling or lakeside dining.
Incline Village & Crystal Bay. Explore the Tahoe East Shore Trail, golf, restaurants, and an evening show. Nearby Sand Harbor is a beautiful public-beach outing; check entry arrangements before visiting.
Lake Tahoe. Book a boat rental or sightseeing cruise, paddle a sheltered shoreline, or build the day around a beach picnic.
Donner Lake. Enjoy another mountain-lake setting for boating, paddling, and a slower afternoon.
Boca & Stampede. Look to these reservoirs for boating, fishing, and watersports. Prosser is a lovely option for a quieter paddle.
More of the lake. Make a longer day of the West Shore, Emerald Bay, or South Lake Tahoe. Scenic stops and summer traffic can turn a lake circuit into a full-day outing.
Water levels, wind, launches, and boat-inspection requirements vary. Check conditions with your marina or outfitter before heading out.
Follow the snow in winter and the water in summer. There is plenty to explore between Truckee, the North Shore, and the Sierra beyond.
Ski & snowboard. Explore Northstar, Palisades Tahoe, Sugar Bowl, Boreal, Tahoe Donner, and Donner Ski Ranch. On the Nevada side, look to Diamond Peak and Mt. Rose for more mountain options.
Beyond the lifts. Try cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, tubing, or ice skating. Book a guided snowmobile outing for a different way to experience the snowy landscape.
Check resort conditions, lessons, rentals, and parking requirements before choosing your day.
Trails & two wheels. Hike through the Sierra, ride mountain-bike or gravel routes, or take a gentler spin on paved paths. Choose a route that fits your group and the season.
River time. Plan a seasonal Truckee River float from Tahoe City, a guided whitewater trip, or a fly-fishing outing with a local guide. Float trips depend on water flows.
ATV & off-road. Explore designated OHV routes in Tahoe National Forest; check current access and seasonal closures first.
